About Child Watch...
The Community Child Watch Program was introduced to the
Kent County area in 1979 with the objective of reducing the opportunity
for a child to become the victim of a crime.
The Kentwood Community Child Watch Program follows the
format of the others in the area, with some modification to meet the
specific needs of our community, and is administered jointly by the
Kentwood Police Department and the local schools.
The success of the Community Child Watch depends on
volunteers from within the community. These volunteers will be
trained to observe, recognize, record, and report suspicious activities
and persons and report them to the police.
Each trained volunteer will be issued a Child Watch poster
for display in the window of their home or business, an emergency
telephone sticker and a Child Watch handbook for reference.
We encourage everyone to join us in this effort to make
our community a safer place to live.
Volunteer Requirements:
1. Background check (assault or child related offense)
2. Attend 1 hour training session
3. Display Child Watch Poster in your window
4. Give some of your leisure time to watching and
observing

Child Watch brochure)
